Bordeaux..... Warning: Three Part Post (maybe more) and Vacation Photos

Our flight left for Bordeaux at 4:40pm or was supposed to according to our tickets. When we arrived at the airport we were bumped back a couple of hours due to........ "no idea" they never divulge that information. By the time we arrived in Paris it was around 1 a.m. our time and 7 a.m. theirs. We missed our flight to Bordeaux so we had to wait for the next flight that took off in four hours. I was staggering around both airports in a Gravol induced stupor and you probably could have put me on any plane to anywhere and I would when I arrived I was in France. As I've noted in previous posts, not only am I a nervous flyer but suffer from motion sickness as well. Just the kind of girl you want to have along on a trip!

Eventually we arrived at the hotel exhausted but still moving. Someone we ran into warned us not to sleep but to wait until tonight to crash. We propped open our eyelids and went out for a walk. I came across the first Chocolatier and dove right in to some chocolate covered caramels which they tie up so beautifully in a small bag with brightly covered ribbons. Lots of attention to detail here.

We found a lovely cafe not far from the hotel and stopped for a Caesar salad and a............

Best Caesar salad I've ever tasted. It was slathered in dressing with shaved parmesan on top and no, I wasn't thinking or concerned about the calorie count. I headed for bed around 9pm leaving John in the lobby trying his best to speak (butcher) the French language.

Tomorrow my visit to the Musee des Beaux-Arts.

Au Revoir

Today I left work at noon and spent most of the afternoon grocery shopping and running errands in preperation for my in laws arriving tomorrow. They have so very generously agreed to stay here for a week with the girls while we head off to France.......Bordeaux to be exact. Lots of museums and wine.......right up my alley. The girls were hoping we would leave them here on their own so when they first threw the idea at us I politely paused for at least ten seconds (long enough) before giving them a resounding "no". Lots of pouting and "don't you trust us?". Yeah, maybe in my next lifetime.

I return on the 28th ......jet lagged but with lots of "stuff" to talk about...

Be good until then............

Another Day.........

So another stressful day has passed while I've been in the office and NOT in the studio......do I sound bitter??? Anyway I'm hoping to post much more than I have been once my gig there is over.

This little guy followed me everywhere when we were up on Superior. It's obvious someone has been feeding him on a regular basis as he's quite tame. At the time I was reading the Jackson Pollock bio so I nicknamed him Jackson. He came when I called his name but I think it was the sunflower seeds and not me he was most happy to see.

Wish I had some new work to post as I've been working on some pieces I'm really pleased with but have had no time to finish them up.........soon.

Superior Sunset

One night just as the sun was getting ready to set, Sierah and I decided to take a walk on the beach. Taking in the beauty of the sky never fails to put my life in perspective. When I stand on the beach with the sky and the water stretched out before me it makes me feel as if anything in my life is possible if I remain brave enough to embrace it.

I'm Back.......Kind Of.........

Arrived home last night after a wonderfully inspiring trip which I'll talk about a bit later this week as well as post photos. The vacation was about the wettest and coolest I can remember. We had one full day of sun on the Friday but that was about it. Today rather than catch up on all I needed to do, I worked in the office. John was shorthanded so I'll be there tomorrow, Friday and most of next week. Yes, it sucks seeing that I have so much to do right now but today after gathering up the mail I came across a nice big fat cheque from the Silverbridge Gallery as they have "thankfully" been selling my work while I've been away. That makes me even more determined to get into the studio and start working again. Perhaps I'll head in tonight and burn the midnight oil................then again I do have to catch up on all the taped episodes of "So You Think You Can Dance" that I've missed.
