This year's Images Tour was my best to date with lots of sales and the opportunity to meet some really cool new people.  I ended up selling almost all my small matted pieces along with three originals so when all was said and done I was pretty happy.  It was exhausting though, seven hours straight of non stop talking for four days has worn me out as I've come down with a crappy head cold.  Last week I had a sore throat which I thought would materialize into a cold but unfortunately it was only a prelude to what was to come.  But enough of about that.....

Last week John and I attended a dinner at the Carlu in Toronto to celebrate his CFP status (certified financial planner).  Wow, what a spectacular venue.  I almost felt important wobbling around in black heels that were way too high for me.  I could picture myself wiping out right in the middle of the cocktail part of the event... feet in the air and dress up over my face.... not a pretty picture by the way.  The Carlu reminded me of all the old hotels of the 1930's ... lots of grays and taupes with accents of silver... gorgeous spot.  I tried to take it all in because I'll probably never get a chance to go again but it sure was beautiful.

Night
Work in paint, thread, wool & silk

This last week of summer is proving to be a challenging one what with my oldest daughter headed off to her first year of university and my youngest needing/wanting endless amount of stuff for high school.  On the bright side my studio has been reorganized and is ready/set for work once I get a chance to actually get my butt in there.

The above piece is one of the small ones I will have available at the Images Studio Art Tour this Thanksgiving.  These smaller works generally measure about 4"x3" and are double matted but not framed.  They are never sold at gallery as there just isn't enough margin to make it worthwhile for me or the gallery so I only sell them directly through me or at any shows I do.  If your around on the Thanksgiving weekend come out and say "hi" as once again there are an outstanding group of artist participating..... info on the site.

It's A Start.........

I began working on this piece yesterday morning and am still at it..... I'll take it down from the easel and put it back up again at least 25 times before I'm satisfied that it's done.    It's a 20"x20" which seems to be a size I'm gravitating toward lately as I'm loving the square format.   When I was at Curry's last week I also picked up a 24"x24" which will be next.  I'm feeling just a touch under the gun this week as I need to ramp things up to have enough new work to spread around but I think I'll be o.k.  The brochure for
The Images Studio Tour is almost wrapped up and it looks beautiful.  Derek Wicks did a bang up job.

This morning while I was in the studio working on this piece, which has yet to be named, I was listening to Rush on my ipod....Tom Sawyer was the song.  Just as I was about to sit down and write this post I came across a new documentary that pays tribute to the iconic Canadian band......Rush  Beyond The Lighted Stage.  For any die hard Rush fan it's a going to be a MUST...
