Lost

Emergence
Mixed Media on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
6"x6"

Sunday night was all about Lost for me....nothing else mattered, well, except for that entire bag of potato chips I inhaled along with that nice cold beer.  Regardless, it was non stop Lost for four hours.  After it was all said and done I went and read some of the blogs as well as discussions on the website and wow, it seemed as if you really liked it or you hated it.  I happen to be in the liked it camp.  I think most people were looking for a nice tidy ending that explained what the hell had been going on for those last six years but not me.......I so enjoyed having it left to individual interpretation.  Great show, great ending, great journey and I'll miss it.

On the art front not a whole lot to report.  Today I'm prepping canvases and starting a new 18"x36".

Last Eggs Standing

Glad this weekend is over and done with as my body couldn't take anymore chocolate.  Not that anyone was stuffing it down my throat or anything like that, oh no, I was totally in control at all times and that is where the problem lies.  This is the last small basket left and I have now given it away just in case the temptation rears it's ugly head sometime today... that kid from Willie Wonka and The Chocolate Factory has nothing on me.

All in all it was a good weekend though as John's family came for the day on Sunday and what a gorgeous day it was.  We were able to sit outside and simply bask in the warmth and the sunshine.  I can't remember an April 4th that was 26 degrees C.

On the art front I'm working away and have slowly steered away from painting on cotton and am doing much more work on silk.  I like the way the paint flows across the surface and creates extremely interesting patterns without any help whatsoever from me.  Rather like it has a mind of it's own and I've been generally quite pleased.  My friend Sue Miller  has an opening this Friday night at the Ridge West Gallery so I'll head out to support her and am excited to take a look at her newest work.

Oh, and for anyone out there who watches "Lost" what a great episode last night. I think the series may  slowly be coming together as the whole alternate universe thing is quite exciting.  I've loved Desmond right from the start and the way he goes around calling everyone "brother" makes him all the more endearing to me.

A Weekend of Rest, Movies and Books

The weekend that just past was extremely relaxing for us and I can't say I really accomplished anything at all which was fine by me. I did get caught up on Lost which I am now officially addicted to. I never began watching this series until about a year ago but still only pretty much off and on. Then we started renting the third season and that was it. Will have to finish up before January 31st as Kelly tells me that is when season 4 begins.
I'm also reading this fabulous book "The Other Boleyn Girl". I just can't put it down....talk about a page turner. Read about the book and the movie here www.sonypictures.com/movies/theotherboleyngirl
Highly recommended
We also watched "The Village" on television while we ate Salt & Pepper potato chips (yes, I know this is so bad for my waistline but it was fun at the time). I heard it got very poor reviews but I genuinely liked it. I thought it said a lot about how fear can basically immobilize people and how easy it is to control others through the use of fear. Interesting concept and a great look at the human condition.
Today I'm back in the studio with two other pieces in the works.
