Meditation in Schools

Fields of Red
Work in Paint & Thread

This morning as I was getting my usual dose of the Huffington Post , I noticed on the sidebar an online news conference, scheduled for Friday to launch the David Lynch Foundation's global iniative to teach one million at risk youth the value of meditation.

I am a firm believer in meditation and have personally meditated twice a day for the past five years. Sometimes I may miss a practice but very rarely. Anyway, enough about me as I'm digressing as usual. The funds for this initiative will be raised by the "Change Begins Within" benefit concert at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on April 4th. The concert will feature Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Eddie Veder, Moby, Sheryl Crow and Russell Simmons.
Here's an interesting clip on how meditation is helping in this Detroit school.

Hi Melody,
Why do you have to be so far away?
How I would love to work with you.
Beautiful work.
Michala x

I would love to work with you too Michala. Maybe one of these days I'll have to treat myself to a trip to England. I've never been.

I miss meditating. It really is wonderful. I have no excuse for not doing it, just can't seem to relax enough to start trying to relax:) What kind of meditation do you do?

Meditation has become a requirement for me. I am one of those people whose mind races a million miles a minute. Meditation keeps me sane.... My meditation is generally focused on my breath but I have been known to use a mantra. I'll have to come out and visit and get you started up again.
